Meet the new Kaweco Collection!
Have you seen the pictures of the lovely light purple Kaweco pen floating around our Instagram feed? That’s the Light Lavender Sport from the brand new Kaweco Collection!
The Kaweco brand is based out of Germany and is especially known for its pocket fountain pens and sturdy materials. Each pen in the new Collection is a special edition run, meaning that the Collection is comprised entirely of new releases limited to that specific year. Kaweco has said that the Collection models do have the opportunity to become part of the regular range if the colours are well-received, but there is no way to guarantee whether the colours will be back or not!
So far, Kaweco has released one pen in the Collection, and we are expecting the second pen to hit shelves in mid-May. The pens in this range will have “Kaweco Collection” etched into the cap where you could usually find the “Kaweco Sport” engraving. This is a special touch, not unlike the “Collectors Edition” etched into the cap of the 2020 Coral pen, which will highlight your special edition for all to see.
The first pen in the collection is Light Lavender, a Skyline Sport. The Light Lavender was released in February, and we just received our second shipment! The Skyline Sport series has the same classic design as all other Sport models, but the pens are made from lightweight resin. These pens have silver accents in the engraving and the nib, whereas the Classic Sport series features gold accents.
The second pen, which has already been announced on the Kaweco Collectors Facebook Group, is a deep purple called “Vibrant Violet.” This pen will be comparable to the regular edition Al-Sport collection and will feature an aluminum body with gold accents.
Whether you’re planning to get the Light Lavender or the Vibrant Violet, don’t forget that the Sport models are so small that they can’t fit a regular converter! You’ll want to pick up a Kaweco Mini Converter if you’re planning to use bottled ink. If you’re planning to use a cartridge, any international standard short size will fit, so that includes brands like Graf von Faber Castell, J. Herbin, Monteverde, and Kaweco!
Most Kaweco pens, including the Sport models that comprise the Collection so far, do not feature a clip, but you can pick one up separately if that is something that you prefer in your pens.
Though the first two models in the Kaweco Collection are both fountain pen Sport models, the sky is the limit for what future models might be. Kaweco makes writing accessories, pencils, rollerball pens, ballpoint pens, and steel nib fountain pens, after all! Since the Collection is limited by special edition releases and not by a particular model or design, we’re excited to see where the new collection goes.
