How to Add Free Embossing to your New Leuchtturm Notebook
As you’ve probably seen already, this long weekend we are having a virtual personalization event with our friends at Leuchtturm1917 Canada. This event is just like the one we ran in December, but the social distancing version!
In case you missed the details, with select Leuchtturm notebook purchases this weekend you will receive free customization. Just be sure to look for “custom debossing” in the listing to make sure that you’re getting exactly what you want. Though the proper name for this kind of personalization is debossing (as the letters “sink down” into the cover instead of “popping up”), most people refer to this kind of personalization as embossing.
We’ve tried to make your ordering experience as seamless as possible, but we’ve also created this guide in case you get stuck. If you need some inspiration as to what to get on your notebook, or who to get a personalized notebook for, we have a blog post for that too!
Step One: Find your perfect notebook!
Look for the listing of the product that you want to buy. In this case, we are getting the official Bullet Journal. There are listings for all kinds of notebooks, so we hope you find one you love!
It is very important to select the listing that has “custom debossing” listed in the title, otherwise you’re getting a regular Leuchtturm notebook without personalization.
Step Two: Pick your favourite colour
Using the first drop-down menu, select the colour that appeals to you the most. As you select each colour, the corresponding picture will pop up on the left, so you can be sure that you’re getting the one that you’re expecting. In this case, we’re going with emerald green.
Step Three: Customize, customize, customize
Here’s the fun part! In the next box, type what you would like to appear on the cover of your notebook, exactly as you would like it to appear. So, for this example, we’re getting Phidon Pens with both Ps capitalized.
We can only take 18 characters for debossing, but don’t worry! If you go over 18 characters, you won’t be able to type any more. So, if you can write it, it will fit, no counting required. It’s not enough to get supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, but you can fit almost everything you’ll need in that space!
Step Four: Colour in the lines
There are three choices for the colour of your debossing: gold, copper, and silver. Choose which one you’d like using the drop-down menu.
If you’re wondering what each of the colours actually looks like, there is a photo of the options you can select on the left.
Step Five: It’s all in the font
You also have two choices for fonts: Grotesk and Brodoni. There are samples of the two fonts in the same photo as the debossing colours. Choose the one that you want using the drop-down menu.
Step Six: Where’s it going?
No matter where you select, the text will appear on the lower portion of the cover, about an inch from the bottom edge. Your choice is whether you want the text to appear centred or to the right next to the elastic! Select your preference by using the drop-down menu.
Step Seven: Finish it up!
You’re all done customizing! From here you can add your creation to the cart and continue looking around the shop (do you need another custom notebook? There’s no limit to how many you can get!) or you can proceed directly to checkout.
